The legacy carries on! In honor of Scott Helvenston, all Navy SEAL Training is now being conducted by SPECWAROPS.

Grounded in solid exercise principles, Amphibian Athletics brings you a new look at fitness concepts. The goal is promoting functional fitness through quality, time efficient calisthenics training and to introduce outdoor activities to enrich your life.

Amphibian refers to those creatures that travel, forage and exist on both land and in water. The philosophy is built upon the idea that we are limited by no boundaries. Land or sea, mountain or dessert, the mother earth is the ultimate gym. Natures Stairmaster is still the best product on the market.

Currently Amphibian Athletics offers group instruction, private training, seminars and 11 exercise video titles. The Amphibian Athletics Fitness Challenge is conducted for club members throughout the year and the pro event is held at the end of the year. This event defines total fitness.

All of the programs are directed by Scott Helvenston, a 12-year Navy SEAL vet. 4 year Navy SEAL Instructor and World Champion Pentathlete. Scott has trained thousands of Navy Seals and civilians. As a fitness promoter, technical advisor and stunt player for the TV and film industry, Scott has worked on productions for ESPN, FOX sports, USA Network, Discovery Channel, Outdoor life Network and feature films such as GI Jane and Face off.

No employee at Amphibian Athletics is a "personal trainer". We set ourselves apart from the typical club approach of trying to make the client dependant on us. We consider ourselves fitness instructors and maybe even life skills instructors. We make a conscious effort to ensure that when you complete your course, you can continue to pursue it on your own.

The following is a brief description of Amphibian Athletics regiment.

  • General strength training

  • General aerobic/ anaerobic training

  • Activity/ sport specific training.

General Strength conditioning is primarily achieved with the use of calisthenics training. Calisthenics proves to be the best training to perfect the frame you've been blessed with. If you are looking for lean, ripped, functional muscle definition, Amphibian Athletics Calisthenics delivers. These training principles prove to be the best form of conditioning due to its convenient nature. Consistency is the name of the game and nothing beats the ability to knock your training out anywhere anytime. "As long as you have yourself, you will always have your gym". People who find themselves married to the gym to achieve their fitness goals usually feel a major time restraint. A very small percentage of people can make it happen. Make calisthenics training your mainstay and go to the gym on occasion when you have the time.

General Aerobic/Anaerobic training is resistance-training efforts taken to longer durations. Anaerobic efforts are more intensive than aerobic efforts but are usually shorter in duration. Aerobic efforts are endurance related activities that last 20 minutes or more and maintain a minimum heart rate of 65% to 70%. The aerobic threshold can be achieved with shorter durations but this is usually confined to the elderly or the super un-fit. Choosing your weapon to accomplish your aerobic goals is an easy task. Whether you are a gym rat or an outdoor enthusiast there are numerous activities to choose from to get the job done. They key here is to understand the best activity is the one you do. So pick a few and keep it interesting.

ACTIVITY/SPORT SPECIFIC TRAINING is the HOO YAH best part of fitness. Making exercise an experience is the ultimate goal. Learning to implement activities to full fill your strength and aerobic goals is a great achievement. At times this can be difficult to balance with your general training. Always lean towards what you enjoy instead of what feels like work. An Amphibious Warrior would much rather go climbing at the local crag than go to a gym to knock out a back workout.
